COMPARE

Honne vs Maze vs Lyssna.

An honest side-by-side. The categories where Honne leads, the categories where it doesn't, and who should pick which tool.

Every research-tool comparison is written by the vendor, so they all conclude the vendor wins. This one won't. Honne loses on panel size, on public reviews, and on one thing the incumbents have that we don't: five years of scar tissue.

What we lead on: an AI moderator that adapts to what participants actually say, insights with source citations, and pricing a team can explain to finance in one sentence.

Maze and Lyssna maintain their own panels. Honne does not — you bring your users, existing audience, or Slack community. Intentional: it keeps costs down and signal up.

Who should pick what

PICK MAZE

If you need insurance.

You need the most mature Figma integration, a 5M-participant panel, 30+ integrations, and assurance that whatever feature research asks for is probably already there. Annual research budget is $10K+.

PICK LYSSNA

If you run few studies a month.

You run ≤3 substantial studies a month, value pricing you can explain to finance, and are fine stitching Zoom for live interviews. The default rational pick for a small design team.

US

PICK HONNE

If you want the AI moderator.

You want AI-moderated interviews that actually ask the follow-up a researcher would — not a fixed script. You bring your own participants. You want insights with source-cited quotes. You value being close to the team building it.

THE HONEST PART

Honne is new. Here's what that means.

We don't have a panel of 5M participants. We don't have 300 G2 reviews. We don't have SOC 2 Type II yet (Type I is in progress). These are real gaps and we won't pretend otherwise.

What we do have: a working product, 11 research methods, an AI moderator you can feel in the product within ten minutes, and pricing a finance team understands. Plus the ability to fix what you need fixed — not in a quarter, in a week.

If what you need today is a mature platform with a panel, pick Maze or Lyssna. If what you want is the research tool we wish existed five years ago — try us. Start free →
